I’m never sure when spring officially starts, but all I know is I’m ready for it! Even with my make up choices, there are certain products I have started to favour, both on myself and in my pro kit. The SS17 trends focus heavily on the skin still, with a floral and metallic pastel palette for eyes and lips, and I have 5 products to show you that will make you feel spring ready….

5 Beauty Essentials For Spring

My skincare routine has seen the addition of Charlotte Tilbury’s Goddess Skin Clay Mask, which I like to do once a week or the day before a big occasion. This mask improves the skin’s texture, hydrates, smoothes, firms and leaves skin feeling softer than soft! I like to leave this on for 10 minutes then remove with a warm flannel, and I equally like using this in conjunction with another of my favourite masks, The Kate Somerville Exfolikate. I use that first, then apply the Charlotte Tilbury one after removing the first, but this has to be when I have some serious pamper time on my hands, as it naturally takes a little longer.

You’ll be very excited to hear that Benefit have released Hoola Lite a paler shade of matte bronze, equally as beautiful as the slightly darker/warmer original Hoola. This has a slightly cooler appearance and is perfect for paler gals who still want to bronze in a realistic way, and as spring approaches I love the look of a subtle bronzer a little more natural looking with a pop of blush on top. It really wakes the skin up and makes it look rested and youthful.

My next spring essential is all about adding colour, for the eyes I like a subtle wash of colour preferably with a little sheen, and I love the dusky pinky tone of Laura Mercier’s Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Amethyst. (shown in swatch below) This gives a nod to the metallic trend in a way that feels very chic and modern, and very pretty on the eyes. It’s also great for on the go as you can use straight from the wand, smooth it all over and blend with fingers. I also love this without mascara for a super soft modern finish. What can I say, I’m just having a moment with naked lashes at the mo!

If I’m choosing to use vivid colour, that’s when I focus on the lips. I always go back to Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolution in Lost Cherry, (shown in swatch below) as it really brightens the face and gives a nice perky appearance, I love that it’s matte yet comfortable and I often wear this without a lip liner for a softer look. This lovely pop of pink really gets me in the mood for spring and walks in the park, it has a floral tone that feels grown up and it flatters most skin tones I try it on.

Last up is MAC Prep And Prime Fix+ Spray, and I actually love this to add not just an extra glow, but also so I can keep my makeup in place without having to add powder. In spring I always skip powder where I can, and this is also nice to refresh the makeup throughout the day. If you have dry skin, you can even add a drop of facial oil inside it and mist it over the skin for an extra shot of hydration.
