It goes without saying that most high end lipsticks fill me with a sense of joy, who doesn’t love the satisfying click of a heavy weighted bullet? Lipstick is a pick me up thats quick and easy, I always forget how quickly my mood changes with a bit of lippy. You can’t beat a Chanel lipstick or a Tom Ford Lippy in my opinion, both for aesthetic reasons and the juice inside, but this year I thought I’d share some new to me favourites I’m really into and theres a mix of price points so something to suit every budget.
Avon have quite frankly knocked my socks off with their holiday collection this year, reminiscent of 1950’s old school glamour and a nod to the early days of Avon. The whole collection is beautiful but what they’ve done with the Iconic Avon Lipsticks deserves high praise indeed. Available in 5 shades, a browny peachy nude, a true red, a deep dark blackberry, a claret blood red and a shimmery pink. All really wearable shades with a creamy texture, the claret red (Sugar plum) and the nude (Holiday Chocolate, pictured above) are my personal favourites. All have a gorgeous casing, gold on the bottom and a print on the top part of the case. The best thing is they only cost $6.99!!!! Let me tell you these look and feel way more expensive and even come in a beautifully illustrated box packaging.
If you haven’t tried Dear Dahlia Lipsticks I seriously suggest you do. Their Lip Paradise Intense Satin is a beautiful full bodied formula that really moisturises the lips while delivering serious pigment with a satin cream finish. If you’re looking for a really special gift, I think these beauties make a nice change up from classic Chanel or Tom Ford packaging and the marble & rose gold casing still looks very luxe and perfect incredibly Instagram friendly. I’ve tried a few pieces from their line, all of which were good but the lipsticks were the standout for me.
For an affordable matte formula I still think its hard to beat Colour Pop’s Lux Lipsticks. An absolute bargain at $7, with a silky feeling that lasts well in a really great selection of colours. As well as some really beautiful classic nudes, pinks, reds and corals, you can also find a few more editorial shades like blues and blacks, perfect for those who like to experiment. Uno Mas is one of my favourite nude lipsticks of all time with just the right amount of peach in, but I also love Angel City which is a beautiful burnt rosy pink tone, along with Money Moves, a really beautiful autumnal browny orange that you can see me wearing in this video along with my other Autumn winter lipstick recommendations.
It’s no secret I do lean more favourable to a classic matte lipstick, and I’m happy to report that the matte textures on the market today continue to look better and feel more comfortable on the lips. Bobbi brown’s latest launch the Luxe Matte Lip Colour is a great holiday gift. With luxe gold casing, and a formula that feels almost whipped on the lips, these are light as air but still give an intense velvety maybe finish. My favourite shade for the holidays would have to be Burnt Cherry.
