Me and liquid lipsticks have somewhat of a tricky relationship. I love the way they look (with the exception of those deathly grey shades that seem to be all the rage these days) but I don’t enjoy the way many of them feel. Wearing liquid lipstick can feel tight, uncomfortable and incredibly drying. The issue is though, when it comes to staying power there are certain liquid lipsticks that are hard to beat so I thought today I’d share a few that I really enjoy using, both on myself and in my pro kit.

If you want to be able to choose from a wide range of shades that range from classic to much more editorial then I don’t think you can beat Sephora Collection’s Cream Lip Stain. The shade always red is such a classic and I’ve really noticed the shade range grow since they first started with a few pink and red shades. I also really like the price point of these liquid lipsticks. A newer discovery for me was Giorgio Armani’s Lip Maestro Lip Stain which feels very velvety on the lips without feeling dry. These feel very similar to the Shore Collection ones with a little more hydration.

One of my favourite liquid lipsticks is Lancome’s Matte Shakers. (shade shown is Magic Orange) These feel incredibly light weight on the lips and of all the liquid lipsticks I’ve tried this is one of my favourite formulas ever. You can literally forget you’re wearing this because it feels like air on your lips. It doesn’t cake or dry out and the stain fades evenly. I think Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Matte Lipsticks (shade shown is Ole Flamingo) are also a real win when it comes to quality at an affordable price. They are another brand that continues to extend their shade range with a formula that feels comfortable and light weight on the lips with very unique shades.

I love a play on texture, and MAC’s Retro Matte Liquid Lip Colour offers up some really fun editorial looks. The shade foil is just simply stunning and more of a wildcard shade that a lot of people probably wouldn’t gravitate to but think Louise Brooks and a nod to the twenties. The matte metallic look is one I’ve really enjoyed experimenting with and I think these MAC liquid lipsticks also making application really easy thanks to a much more precisely shaped applicator. All 5 shown here are intense pigment, long lasting and comfortable to wear.
