Make Beauty is a brand inspired by personal style. I see it as a brand setting the trends as opposed to following them. Their take on beauty fits in well with my own ethos, there are no rules. They encourage experimentation and believe their products are for everybody, regardless of gender or the kind of makeup looks you like to create, whether that be a barely there skinny finish or something more pigmented.

Like many others, I discovered Make through social media, and it appealed to me instantly. The packaging is clean and minimal and as a makeup artist this brand offers me functionality as well as products I can play with and mould them into my own. Make strikes me as a brand that think outside the box, and whenever I use it on models and clients, they always want to know what it is, so I thought I’d share with you today my top picks and what I will be repurchasing both for myself and my pro kit.

Make Soft Focus Foundation – This is a very hydrating slightly dewy foundation with medium coverage. It keeps skin looking like skin, only better, more plump and juicy. What’s amazing about this foundation is that it leaves the skin with a radiance but still minimises the appearance of pores and as the name suggests gives a soft focus blur to imperfections. This comes in 16 shades and I wear the shade warm no 2, however I’m starting to get a deeper tan now the sun is out in LA so I may have to go a shade or two warmer soon. I also like that the packaging is clear as it allows you to see how much is left and what the true foundation colour actually is.

Make Marine Salve – Think of this as a similar product to 8 hour cream. A nice emoilent salve that can be used as a lip balm, to add sheen to cheeks and eyes, a salve to heal dry patches, a cuticle softener, its a true multi purpose product. This is slightly thinner in consistency to 8 hour cream, and theres not really an obvious scent. Nicely moisturising and a great all rounder.

Make Custom Finish Effects Matte/Dew – The first product that drew me into this brand was the Dew Pot in Dew, which then led me to discover one of my all time favourites from the brand the custom finish effects, a duo palette with one side containing my beloved dew pot in dew, a skin like dewy highlighter with the tiniest reflective pearls, more of a sheen than a highlight, but stunning none the less. And the other side comes complete with a matte balm, perfect for people who hate powder, and I love this for placing over fine lines to smooth out my concealer on top. An awesome product and definitely one of my faves from this brand. If skin is your thing, you need this now.

Make Beauty Dew Pot In Bronze 1 – If I had to pick only one product to recommend I think it would be this. The bronze pot is unlike any other texture I’ve ever known in the beauty world. It is a cream but it’s quite a stiff glossy cream that really stays put on the skin. It has a lot more grip than conventional cream blushes/bronzers and the glow this gives is so luxurious. I can only describe it as ‘vogue’ skin. The skin you see in magazines where you can’t figure out what they’re wearing that makes that tan look real, dewy, never flat and completely apart of the skin as opposed to sitting on top of it. The cream has a sort of translucency to it, that allows you to build the product to you’re desired level of tan, and still show your freckles through it. Absolute make up magic! Available in two shades of bronze.

Make Matte lipstick – I have the shade Magma, a beautiful orange with a red undertone. This looks amazing on all skin tones I’ve tried it on. I love it on myself both when I’m pale and with a tan. It’s surprisingly complimentary and because of the red undertone it’s still quite teeth whitening. The bullet has a square shaped tip, and I find the consistency of this to be a comfortable matte, with staying power.

Make Succulent Skin Gel – A product I didn’t know I needed until I owned it. It’s a lightweight non sticky fast absorbing gel with cactus extracts & aloe vera to help calm sensitive, dry or sun exposed skin. I use it mainly for the latter. I love this after showering when I’ve been running out in the sun to replenish my skin. I find most after sun type products to be excessively rich and creamy which means putting clothes back on top can be a little sticky. This absorbs fast and cools the skin nicely, so is also perfect for holidays when you’ve spent the day in the sun.
