While I can appreciate matte skin, i’ve always preferred the finish of a dewy skin look. To me it radiates health and I feel my best when my skin looks like it’s glowing. The look I like to create is best described as a sheen or skin that’s illuminated as opposed to highlighting in a ‘highlighting and contouring’ sense. I think this is certainly a topic I could talk about until the cows come home, and since I moved to LA there are quite a few new additions i’ve been loving, both in my pro kit and my own makeup bag so thought it time I shared my glow tos….
RMS Living Luminizer A pearly sheen that’s not glittery, and even though it looks white toned, it compliments every skin tone and on the skin has more of a natural sheen effect as opposed to leaving any Colour.
A coconut oil base means its pretty much edible however I advise against that! A natural product that’s perfect for those who like a sweaty skin sheen look.
Ilia Polka Dots and Moonbeams Illuminator comes in a handy stick, another natural brand that does cream products extremely well. This similar to the RMS one, creates a a beautiful sheen that gives you expensive looking sheen. Such a beautiful formula that doesn’t grab on the skin when used directly from the bullet either. This is one I often take with me for touch ups, and adding more glow on the go.
Rituel De Fille Rare Light Luminizer in Anthelion Has the most interesting Colour spectrum within this illumiator. It makes me think of mermaids! Don’t worry, i’m not talking glitter, or Disney princesses, much more sophisticated, lets say a vogue mermaid! The sheen on this is literally like a pearl, with different reflections of subtle Colour, peach, gold, pink, it has a real opalescent etherealness to it. It looks incredible with a tan, and I love this when I want something that’s a little more interesting and tonal.
Glossier Haloscope Face Highlighter in Moonbeam I like that this one has the oil core, so you can actually select with your finger to mix the shimmer and oil together or carefully select just one element of the glow. I finds this works best with fingers and then tapping the product onto the high points of the face.
Jillian Dempsey Lid Tint in Dew Yes this is technically a lid tint, but you can use this anywhere. I am obsessed with this in my kit, I use it at least a couple of times a week, especially when I want a sheen with no Colour and no trace of pearl or shimmer. This creates the most natural looking dewy skin and because its clear, it’s the one I use most across a variety of skin tones. It’s a balmy texture that look magic on the skin, and equally beautiful on the eyes.
Make Dew Pot Similar to the Jillian Dempsey Lid Tint in Dew, this gives a barley there glow that’s perfect for elevating a satin foundation, to give it a little more life, or for when I want to take a dewy foundation up a notch.
Sephora Beauty Amplifier is the closest dupe I’ve found to The Victoria Beckham x Estée Lauder Morning Aura. Granted it’s a little more yellow based, but still very flattering, and this one I absolutely love under foundation, or mixed into moisturiser.
Funny that i’ve moved to creams in such a big way recently, I just love the way a cream looks on the skin, it becomes a part of the skin and for me that’s the goal.
