I wasn’t really in the market for a new matte lipstick, but this one just kind of crept up on me. Laura Mercier’s new velour extreme matte lipstick is a rich in pigment matte lipstick that glides on, lasts an age and feels super comfortable, end of blog post! Just kidding, but in all serious, thats my criteria for a great matte lipstick. Sometimes you just can’t beat a great matte lipstick, its the perfect way to add a bit of spice to an outfit, the perfect accessory finishing touch if you will.
The colour range is everything I could have wished for and more, reds, pinks, berries and the most beautiful corals. It comes in a total of 24 shades and they are all stunning! The coverage is instant, we’re talking with one swipe, full pigment. I like that its a twist up crayon so easy to apply on the go, not that you’re going to need to touch up often with this formula.
The shade I’m wearing in these photos is ‘It Girl’, a really beautiful fuchsia, which is my favourite alternative to a red lip. I’ve been getting back into pink lips as of late and I’m still very much into into pink eyes too. It’s still bold and intense but a nice change from a classic red. Speaking of reds though, the shade ‘Fire’ is a must purchase (especially as it’s been out of stock quite a few times thanks to its popularity).
I always stare at geranium petals and wonder how to achieve that intensity of a bright red and fire is that shade. I’ll definitely be picking up more of these shades but these two so far are my favourites. Velour extreme instantly brightens the complexion and has a modern texture that has a true velvet finish without drying out the lips.
Matte lipsticks will always be my personal choice, I like how low maintenance they are compared to other lipsticks, and there’s something so chic to me about a velvet lip. It feels timeless and elegant, but with the ability for it to be dressed up or more casual depending on how you wear the rest of your makeup. This one gets 10/10 from me, let me know if you’ll be trying these out and what shade you’ve got your eye on.
