the best lip balms for dry lips

If there’s one product I never tire of buying, it is without fail, lip balm. I bloody love the stuff, it’s scattered all over my apartment, in my car and can be found in pretty much every handbag I own. So this post feels long overdue, especially when there’s quite a few new ones I’ve been loving….

One of my latest discoveries came from ordering the Limited Edition Vogue 125 x Birchbox to celebrate Vogue’s 125th birthday. It was the first time purchasing a Birchbox subscription and I have to say it was pretty darn good. The Lip balm that came in the box was Aerin Rose Lip Conditioner 01 Nude. A beautiful long lasting balm with a subtle gloss finish. This one reminds me of how Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream works in that I can put this on at night and wake up with a vague amount still on my lips. It comes in a squeezey tube so great for touch ups on the go.

For a touch of luxury Tom Ford has now launched Lip Balms, and shade 02 Neotropic is a beautiful orangey hue, this looks amazing with a tan as you get a subtle hint of colour as well as really moisturised lips. I’m definitely taking this one next time I go on a hot holiday, as I love the tropical vibes this reminds me of.

Another new favourite has to be Glossier Birthday Balm Dot Com. This is a universal skin salve and not only does this smell amazing, cake people!!! But it also looks really nice on cheek bones and eyelids too for an extra dewy glow.

When it comes to old favourites, you can’t go wrong with Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors. (they come in various shades, but I love Rosewood as a my lips but better shade). These give a hint of sheen and colour and really moisturise the lips. These have been in my kit for years now, and are definitely one of my most repurchased pro kit items! I love the sponge applicator and I like to pat this in to my lips for a barely there natural lip look.

I’ve long been a fan of Burt’s Bees Coconut & Pear Lip Balm Stick, cheap and cheerful and perfect as a unisex balm. This isn’t too glossy but still makes lips look lovely and conditioned without leaving any colour.

I have been looking for a nice natural/green beauty lip conditioner for my pro kit for a while now, and this one was worth the wait. Herbivore Coco Rose Coconut Oil Lip Conditioner is a beautiful rose scented lip conditioner that’s in-between a matte balm and a slight sheen so nice when you want a natural looking, just buffed lip look. You would think that the coconut oil would make this really greasy, but far from it. It’s just the right amount of emollient and definitely more a balm than an oil in terms of consistency.

It’s fair to say they’ll probably be another batch of new finds on its way to you soon due to my undying love for lip balm. But that’s my current stash i’m really enjoying and happy to recommend. Let me know yours.
