Orla Kiely’s collection featured heavily on the flower power theme, Taking heavy inspiration from the 60’s with a focus primarily on the lashes and creating a modern twiggy style ‘clumped lash’ keeping everything else soft focus.
Julian McDonald was all about the ‘mermaid glow’ The skin was dewy, iridescent with a metallic golden eye. The look overall was polished but whimsical.
David Koma went for a focus on Geometric  Eyeliner and the use of lines for a modern updated way to wear eyeliner. To keep the focus on the eyes and the eyes alone, everything else was nicely paired down, so clean skin, lips buffed for a natural finish but not matte and not glossy.
Burberry chose to play up the lips this season, with a stunning ruby red that had a slight pink undertone. It was quite a creamy full pout paired with radiant glowing skin, groomed brows and no mascara. The only thing on the eyes was a hint of eyeshadow used to mimic the natural shadow in the contours of the eye used very subtly.
Matthew Williamson gave us beautiful pinks and lilacs blended beautifully on the eyelids of glowing models. The eyes were intensified with a brighter magenta in the middle of the eye blending out softly to a faint wash of pink. Everything else was creamy with a sheen including the skin and lips. A thin line of black at the lash roots was added for definition and a little mascara to the top lashes only.
Jean-Pierre Braganza also gave a nod to the 60’s within the makeup, with a graphic winged eyeliner as the centre piece, complimented by a modern naked skin and no concealer. Lashes and freckles were another addition the the models.
To sum up this London Fashion Week I would say there is still a strong reference to the 1960’s where lashes and liner are concerned. Where colour has been used, it appears to have been used quite romantically and with a mix of intensities so it’s all about the blending of colour.
In terms of skin, I would say it’s still quite similar to last season in that it’s either dewy and glowing or barely there with more attention to the skin in its original state.
