Feeling sexy to me is far more important than looking ‘sexy’ (whatever that looks like anyway). Personally I associate feeling sexy with classic tailoring, and a great black blazer always gets me excited. There’s something so powerful about the lines and leaving more to the imagination. Don’t me wrong I like clothing with a little vava voom too, but a suit, a sharp blazer and trouser combo just makes me feel incredible. I’ve always collected blazers, its fair to say half my wardrobe is designated to my love of them, and I’ve bought several over the year, always looking for the perfect one!
On a recent visit to Nordstrom Rack I found my dream black blazer, a wool mix that still feels light weight but beautiful quality by the brand Frame (similar here). I have noticed I do tend to prefer a double breasted cut because I like that you can wear it done up with nothing underneath like I have here for a more dressy look, but it also looks great and a little more relaxed when its undone with jeans and a t-shirt.
I’ve talked about the power of clothing before in this post, but the idea of ‘sexy’ and how that looks, what society defines that as fascinates me. I guess when I have more skin on show I feel a lot more aware of my body, and while I’m in a good place with my relationship with my body, I do relish the safety blanket of great tailoring. It’s somewhat failsafe, a trusty go to that always measures up.
A great suit, or at the very least a classic black blazer, should be a focal point for any wardrobe because of its versatility. so I’m sharing my picks at the bottom of the post. My trousers are actually a recent find from Uniqlo, and if like me you like a discreet stretchy waistband (no shame here) then these will be your new favourite trouser! The cut is perfect with the perfect ankle length, as well as giving a really nice cigarette pant look. Plus they were under $40 so a win all round!
Im curious, what does sexy mean to you? How do you define it? What does it look like? I think sexy to me is feeling badass, unapologetic and a little bit sassy, all with an effortless feel to it, but thats just my take on it.
