Today I thought it was high time I share the 5 beauty products that were absolute game changers for me last year, while I do plan on making a 2018 favourites video very soon I thought it would be helpful to share the cream of the cream and the products I now can’t live without especially if I had to wittle it down to a solid 5.
Vintners Daughter Active Botanical Serum – I did a full post with everything you need to know about this beauty a while back, but the main thing you need to know….it works, on my skin at least and my clients. I love face oils (more of my faves here) but not all are created equal, and this one is hands down my favourite. While the texture is that of an oil it has the power of a serum and the reason I love it is because of the magical things it does to my skin. Whenever I ran out I would use other things, great things, but I always came back to this and each time was astounded the difference it made both to the texture of my skin and the overall glow of my complexion. It’s beautiful under makeup, and is the perfect serum and moisturiser in one. Pricy yes, but the results are worth it. I’m Currently on my third bottle!
Pmel Essence Mascara Base – A late discovery in the year but one I think I’ve needed all my life what with my difficult eyes. A friend on a shoot introduced me to this wondrous product, a clear mascara base that sets your lashes after you curl them. Think of this as the ultimate lash support, you know that moment when you first release your lash curler and your eyelashes look insane..well this is when you apply this product, leave it to dry for a minute and you have lashes that mimic the look of a lash lift that won’t budge or droop until you remove it (waterproof makeup remover does the job nicely).Everyone I’ve showed this too has ordered it on the spot, it’s like the best push up bra but for your lashes. It’s as if each lash is glued into position but without feeling crispy or uncomfortable. Safe to say I’ve ordered another 3 tubes! It’s also great for unruly brow hairs too!
Glossier You – It’s been a while since I’ve had a fragrance that I’ve repurchased multiple times, but Glossier You is just the perfect day to night fragrance (full review here). Yes fragrance is a very personal affair and this really does smell different on everyone, but whenever I wear it I always get compliments. It’s Dave’s favourite smell on me and because its EDP the scent really lasts. I love it from the moment its applied and equally after its had time for the base notes to come through after a few hours of wear. In total I went through two bottles of it last year and I’m currently on my third!
Sephora Colourful Waterproof Eyeliner Shade 14 It Bag – I have to say I find myself repeatedly impressed by Sephora’s own brand products (Sephora Collection) and have yet to find something I don’t like, but the stand out product that dare I say it took over from my beloved Kiko Liquid Liner has to be this one. The Sephora Colourful Waterproof Eyeliner in the shade It bag is the most beautiful shimmer copper shade, that looks so beautiful on all skin tones. its richly pigmented (although I do recommend shaking the tube before you apply to mix the colour well) and lasts ALL day and night, but removes easily enough with a waterproof eye makeup remover. The tone of this is incredibly magnetic and I always receive compliments when I wear it, followed with ‘what is it’ and ‘where can I get it’. I’m currently on my second tube, and I’m thinking I may try more colours from this line.
Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Mirage Longer luminous Eyeshadow (Third shade from the left top row) – Cream shadows are a staple in my pro kit as well as a go to for doing makeup on myself. They’re a god send when you’re in a rush and perfect for fuss free application when you like to do your base first and don’t want anything dropping and smearing under your eyes. The shade Mirage by Chanel has to be my most used colour in 2018, everyone I used this on looked gorgeous in it. The gold is the perfect tone, not too warm and not too blingy, just very flattering and easy to build up pigment, so I used this for a gentle wash of colour up to more opaque eye looks. You do have to be sure to keep the lid tightly secured when you’re not using them, but even when they shrunk a little, the pigment never lost its magic and Ive actually squished all mine into a vueset palette and so far they haven’t dried up and are just as good as in the original pan. This really is a suit all shade, that’s fuss free and naturally enhancing, perfect for day and night time looks.
