When it comes to ‘No Makeup Makeup’ theres one brand that has really captured the concept with easy to use products that effortlessly achieve a no make makeup look. For me ‘no makeup makeup’ is a look I define as subtle enhancements yet undetectable on the skin. It should look like it really could be your skin. Perricone MD has several makeup products that focus on ‘no makeup makeup’ and for me the three mentioned here have become significant in my pro kit and a favourite to use on myself, especially when I want to create natural looking makeup. My only regret is I wish I had discovered these sooner.
The forumla in all of them is a watery pigment, serum like feel, comparable in texture to Daniel Sandler’s Watercolour blush and Giorgio Armani’s Maestro foundation. I like to apply these with fingers, and add more to increase the intensity. The other reason I think this is such a genius line is because it also acts brilliantly as a stain under powder products, so you have the ability to layer your products. For those who like a natural look but with a little more intensity, try applying these on top of foundation, then set with powder and follow with a powder blush or bronze and it still looks soft and natural, but creates a long lasting finish.
The first product from the line that started this love affair was the No Bronzer Bronzer. On a recent trip to Naimes, I came across this and decided this could be a great edition to my editorial kit. It feels so lightweight, like air on the skin. While I appreciate it only comes in one shade and I would love to see them bring out more, the shade on my skin was exactly the colour I go when I catch the sun, golden brown, and in no way orange. It’s the translucency that attracted me to more products in the line, because you can guarantee with this you will still see your skin underneath, in the best possible way. I use this over my cheeks, bridge of my nose and around my hairline, and it looks so believable. I think for holidays this will be my new go to as you just can’t feel it on the skin, it really is makeup magic!
Freckles are still visible, as is the skin texture no matter how much you increase the intensity. It comes with a pipette dropper and to be honest I like to pop some on the back of my hand and then apply from there with my fingers, it can be a little messy and probably not one for makeup on the tube, but it is totally worth the application process if you want the ultimate no makeup makeup look. This also contains SFP 30, although I imagine you’d have to use a lot of it to gain the benefits of that SPF.
After purchasing the No Bronzer Bronzer, it was inevitable that the No Blush Blush would be next on my list, and while also only available in one colour, this one will still appeal to a lot of people, in a similar way that Nars Orgasm Blush also works on many different skin tones. Its a universally flattering peachy pink coral with no shimmer. Just a fresh hue that brings life back to the skin. This and the No Eyeshadow Eyeshadow both have a doe foot applicator attached to the lid so these are a little less messy and allow more precise application. I still used my fingers to tap and blend.
The No Eyeshadow Eyeshadow is also only available in one shade, but its incredibly translucent and just gives the most delicate of washes to the lid, enough to create a clean canvas with a little definition, again undetectable as makeup, it just looks like a very soft shadow on the lid.
This trio is a must have for any no makeup makeup addicts out there, and Perricone MD have executed the no makeup makeup look perfectly. To me its the exact amount of pigment needed for it to be believable and I definitely think I’ll be wearing this a lot as the weather gets warmer, and for hot holidays when I want a little something, with a little mascara and lip balm and thats it. Whats your go to no makeup makeup staples?
